Camps Bay Terrace is close to delightful golf clubs in the Cape Town area of South Africa, some with spectacular mountain and ocean views. Most clubs welcome visitors subject to certain restrictions on club days. The information below is provided to help you find the kind of course you like, but for up to date information please contact the club directly. Arabella Country Estate in the Western Cape claimed the title for the best new course among those opened for play in 1999. It is built in a spectacular setting overlooking the Bot River Lagoon near Hermanus, and is a challenging layout, with exciting finishing holes on each nine running alongside the water.

Established in 1885 by Sir Henry d'Oyley Torrens, this is South Africa's oldest golf club. The South African Open has been held at this challenging course eight times, notable winners being Gary Player in 1965 and most recently Ernie Els in 1996.

This course is considered one of the more forgiving in the Western Cape. There are a few testing holes but it is one place where the average golfer can expect to play two or three shots under his handicap. It is one of the few traditional country clubs still in existence with facilities for tennis, squash and bowls as well as golf.

Steenberg has a reputation of having the most magnificent greens and lies nestled under the Constantiaberg Mountains. The golf estate lies amongst South Africa's long established vineyards surrounded by the indigenous pines, Cape bush and mountain flora. The course has been designed by Peter Matkovich who has created a challenge by introducing large waste bunkers, running creeks and water hazards.

Situated at the foot of the imposing Simonsberg mountain, close to the university and wine making town of Stellenbosch, this course is sheltered from the infamous southeasterly wind that can create havoc for the amateur golfer. The course is separated from the sea by a narrow strip of land so it is exposed to fresh and strong breezes and even gales. It is also known for its water features. The golfer will encounter no less than 11 of them during a round. There is a bird sanctuary adjacent to the course, and the Helderberg provides a breathtaking backdrop.

Westlake golf course is situated on the shaded slopes of Silvermine Mountain, near the seaside town of Muizenberg. The towering flat pines create natural avenues for the fairways. The lush, beautifully groomed course, is described as being quick when freshly cut, requiring accuracy even at the best of times.
